The Acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Prof Daniel Kemebradikuma Pondei, on Monday, fainted during a 40-billion-naira investigative hearing at the National Assembly committee as barrels of questions were fired at him.

There has a controversy over allegations of corruption involving the former NDDC MD, Joi Nunei and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who were scheduled to appear before the investigative committee.

Pondei had earlier responded to questions regarding a 536-million-naira the commission was alleged to have paid out for a Save Life Campaign project in the region.

He further responded to a 641-million-naira payment made to a company known as Clearpoint Communications, saying that the fund was disbursed to train indigenes and identify projects in the Niger Delta area. He, however, pleaded to be given more time to furnish the committee with the budget that backs his response.

While the committee pressurized with more questions, Pondei was observed to be gradually motionless and losing posture over his desk. The hearing session took a rowdy break in the process of resuscitating him.
